Dental Cleaning for Dogs

Dental Cleaning for Dogs

Exclusive to Dre Julie Beaubien’s clients! Animal technician graduate and hygienist Marie-Josée Raschella offers dental prophylaxis including dental cleaning services for dogs without anesthesia.

Why dental cleaning for your dog?

  1. To reduce gingivitis, bad breath and bacterial load

  2. To improve your dog's overall oral health

  3. To avoid anesthesia (descaling) and its possible inconveniences

Dental prophylaxis in dogs

Dental prophylaxis refers to all preventive care to maintain the oral health of the dog.

It relies on regular dental cleaning (descaling to remove plaque and tartar) and preventive measures such as daily toothbrushing and chew toys.

Progressive desensitization

In order to perform dental cleaning without anesthesia, progressive desensitization is essential. This means that the dog becomes accustomed to handling its mouth and to dental instruments.

To do this, the method used is positive reinforcement. This process allows the animal to accept care calmly and to associate dental hygiene with a positive experience.
